More than anywhere else, this is a place where pictures cannot convey the grandeur of the scenery.

This picture is at the eastern end of the gorges, where the river Artuby joins the Verdon.

The bridge and the nearby bar are fantastic viewpoints.

Both these photos are on the southern route.

The picture below shows the western end, across a corner of the huge Lac de Ste Croix.
You can see the northern route, halfway up the cliff, while the southern route is the one crossing the bridge.

They do say that the best trip of all is to take a boat along the river itself - we've done that too, see Page 9 for a couple of pictures.
