The final series of tight hairpins to the top are quite dramatic.
North of the pass, the road stays on a level.
The valley beyond is flooded by a pair of spectacular dams, forming the Lagi di Cancano. At the end of that valley, the road reaches the Passo di Fraele at 1952 metres, from where a track leads down in the direction of the Livigno Tunnel.
