It's usually quoted as the highest (road) pass in the Alps.
It's not, it's the 4th highest.
But it does have a loop of higher tarmac which is, at 2802m, the highest in the French Alps (no longer the highest in France though!) Below you can see Sheila posing beside the marker for this highest point.
