Some IGN maps show this as 1532m but 1352 is the better figure.
This is a good high quiet road and recommended to cyclists, though it is quite hard work.

The Vercors is full of poignant reminders of the World War II history of this area, and the Calvaire de Valchevriere which is by the roadside high above the remains of the village itself, is one of the most telling of all the memorials.
Stop, read about it, and reflect.

The road is a useful alternative link between Villard de Lans and the high country in the centre of the Vercors, avoiding the more obvious route which is the upper part of the Gorges de Bourne. It's one of the highest through roads in the Vercors, and very tough from the west side.
