In the southern French Alps

This is an excellent alternative to the bleak Bonette summit, running round the foot of it and just to the north.
The scenery is much more attractive and more impressive.

A choice of several rough tracks leaving high up the the Bonette road converge and then meet tarmac at the Col de la Moutiere.

Another less rideable track leads across to the Cayolle approach road, landslips permitting.
