A main road pass in the far north of Italy, very close to the Austrian border - but its approached downhill as part of the Raid Alpine route. After starting in France then moving through Switzerland, Italy and the Italian Dolomites, near here the route gets within 4km of Austria.
Near Trieste, it is even possible to divert briefly through a corner of Slovenia.
